Day 2: Gobustan-Absheron and Baku Night Tour
The second day of your multi-day tour takes you to Gobustan, a UNESCO World Heritage Site celebrated for its stunning rocky landscapes and ancient petroglyphs. At the Gobustan State Museum, you will discover artifacts that narrate the history of humanity over thousands of years. The nearby open-air petroglyph reserve displays intricate carvings left behind by early settlers and Roman legionaries, offering a glimpse into the lives of ancient civilizations. If the weather is favorable, you will also visit the mud volcanoes, a rare geological phenomenon unique to Azerbaijan, where bubbling mud creates an otherworldly scene.
Lunch will be a feast of Azerbaijani cuisine, featuring traditional dishes like meat and green kutabs, a mix of kebabs (chicken, lamb, and kofte), pilaf, choban salad, and soft drinks.
In the afternoon, the tour continues to the Absheron Peninsula, where you will visit the Fire Temple of Ateshgah. This ancient sanctuary, dating back to the 2nd century BC, was a place of worship for Zoroastrians and Indian fire-worshippers. The cells within the temple contain fascinating exhibits that reflect the lives and rituals of these early communities. From here, you will travel to Yanardag, a naturally occurring eternal flame that has burned continuously for centuries, captivating visitors with its unending glow.
In the evening, a traditional Azerbaijani dinner will be served, with dishes such as "Sach," fresh salads, and tea. Following dinner, the Baku Night Tour offers a dazzling view of the city’s landmarks. Admire the Flame Towers, Crystal Hall, and the Baku Ferris Wheel, as well as the beautifully illuminated streets and buildings along the Baku Boulevard. This waterfront park stretches 25 kilometers and is adorned with exotic trees, Venetian-style canals, and architecture that reflects the city’s 19th-century European influences.
The evening concludes with a visit to the Heydar Aliyev Center Park, a stunning example of modern architecture designed by Zaha Hadid. The park’s lush green lawns and white pathways feature unique sculptures, including the famous "I LOVE BAKU" installation, perfect for a memorable photo.
Day 3: Shamakhi-Gabala Tour
On the third day, your multi-day tour leads you into the heart of Azerbaijan’s rich historical and natural heritage. The first stop is the Juma Mosque in Shamakhi, the oldest mosque in the Caucasus, built in 743 AD. This remarkable structure impresses visitors with its intricate facade and interior, as well as the ruins of an ancient madrasah that once served as the first Islamic school in the region.
Lunch will be served in a serene forest setting in the city of Ismaili, where you will enjoy traditional Azerbaijani dishes, including a variety of kebabs, pilaf, choban salad, and tea brewed in a samovar.
The journey continues to Lake Nohur, a picturesque natural wonder surrounded by the majestic peaks of the Greater Caucasus. The lake’s emerald-green waters mirror the mountains, creating a serene and captivating view. Visitors can explore small shops near the lake, offering dried fruits, honey, oriental spices, and local Lankaran tea.
Finally, the tour concludes at the Tufandag Mountain Resort in Gabala. Here, you will take a scenic cable car ride to an altitude of over 2,000 meters, where you will enjoy breathtaking views of Bazarduzu Peak, the highest mountain in Azerbaijan.
